Xinyan Zhong (Sam)

Advanced Data Scientist at ISN

Sam Zhong (Xinyan) has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. They started their career as a Counselor Assistant at the Embassy of Chile in 2012. In 2013, they interned as a Marketing Assistant at Indra and as a Research Assistant at Ipsos. They then transitioned to a Business Analyst role at China Machinery Industry International Co., Ltd in 2014, where they worked until 2017.

In 2017, they worked as a Data Visualization Project - Student Analytics Consultant at American Airlines, and in 2018, they took on the role of SMU Practicum - Student Analytics Consultant at Kimberly-Clark. They also worked as a Business Intelligence & Analytics Consultant at Sparkhound from 2018 to 2019.

Their most recent experience is at ISN, starting as an Advanced Data Analyst in September 2019 and progressing to a Senior Data Analyst role from January 2021 to July 2022. They then became a Data Scientist from June 2022 to July 2023 before transitioning to their current role as an Advanced Data Scientist from July 2023.

Xinyan (Sam) Zhong's education history begins in 2010 when they enrolled at Beijing International Studies University. They pursued a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature, completing their studies in 2014. In 2017, Xinyan started their Master of Science (MS) program at Southern Methodist University, specializing in Business Analytics. Their time at SMU lasted until 2018 when they received their MS degree.

In addition to their formal education, Xinyan has obtained several certifications. They became a Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals in May 2020 and later achieved the Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate certification in November 2021. They also hold the SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9 certification, earned in June 2017, and the SAS Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS 9 certification, obtained in April 2018. Another certification in their portfolio is the Tableau Desktop Certified Associate, received in May 2020.
