Elli Papaemmanuil has worked for several companies in various roles since 2002. Elli began their career as an Industry Placement R&D Pharmacogenetics at AstraZeneca in 2002. In 2004, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and PHD Student at The Institute of Cancer Research. In 2009, they became an IT Consultant at Deloitte. In 2010, they were a Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. From 2016 to 2020, they worked as a Junior Team Leader at University of Cambridge, Scientific Advisory Board and Consulting in the Pharmaceutical Sector, Genomics Companies, Precision Medicine, and Technology Architecture, and Assistant Professor Computational Oncology Service at MSKCC. In 2020, they became the Co-Founder and CEO of Isabl.

Elli Papaemmanuil began their education with a Bachelors in Science from the University of Glasgow in Human Molecular Genetics from 2000 to 2004. Elli then pursued a PhD in Human Population Genetics from the University of London from 2004 to 2008. After this, they completed postdoctoral studies from the University of Cambridge from 2011 onwards. In 2020, they also attended Y Combinator.
