Janet Xiao has held various roles throughout their work experience. Janet currently serves as the Operations Director at the IRMA Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance, where they are responsible for managing all aspects of organizational administration. Prior to this, they worked as a Worker-Owner at Frogfish Studio, where they focused on creating clear flows and adopting useful tools for nonprofits. Janet also served as a Team Manager at Third Space Studio, where they produced reports, conducted data analysis, and managed online tools. Janet also held the position of Special Projects Director at The Marian Cheek Jackson Center for Saving and Making History, where they provided comprehensive technical assistance and led project planning and prioritization. Finally, they were the Co-Director at The Community Empowerment Fund, where they co-led a housing and economic justice non-profit.
Janet Xiao completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Public Policy and Religion from Duke University in 2012. Janet then pursued a Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) degree in Ethics & Political Theology at Duke Divinity School from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, they obtained their High School Degree from the International School of Beijing in 2008, specializing in the International Baccalaureate - Bilingual (English, Chinese) program. Additionally, Janet has obtained certifications in Facilitation Methods & Strategic Planning from Technology of Participation (ToP)® in 2016, as well as in Mental Health First Aid from Mental Health First Aid in 2013.
