Darrell Giles is an experienced media and communications professional with a career spanning over four decades. Currently serving as a Senior Media Officer at Ipswich City Council since August 2017, Darrell has previously held positions as Media and Communications Manager and Media and Public Relations Officer. At the CCIQ from April 2014 to July 2017, Darrell significantly expanded the organization's media audience and produced over 1,000 written pieces. Prior roles include Senior Account Manager at Big Splash Communications, Editor at Brisbane Business News, and Chief Reporter/Chief of Staff at News Corp Australia, where Darrell wrote over 10,000 articles and reported on numerous elections. Darrell began the career in journalism as a Sports Reporter and later as Sports Editor in New Zealand and holds a Diploma of Journalism from Auckland Technical Institute.
