Catarina Maia is a Fisheries Biologist at the IPMA Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera since May 2019, with extensive experience in elasmobranch research as a member of the ICES Working Group on Elasmobranch Fishes since 2012. Prior roles include Fish Ecologist at CEFAS and Technical Research Fellow and Science Research Fellow at the Portuguese Institute for the Ocean and Atmosphere, where Catarina conducted research on fisheries data collection and stock assessment under the Common Fisheries Policy. Catarina's academic background includes a Master's degree in Marine Biology from Universidade do Algarve and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias. Notable research includes projects on the population dynamics of Raja undulata and studies on reproductive biology of elasmobranchs.
