Joachim Welte has a diverse work experience in the field of research and development. Joachim is currently serving as a Senior Systems Engineer at IonQ since May 2021. Previously, they worked at Leica Microsystems as a Technology Scouting Manager from October 2019 to April 2021.
Prior to that, Joachim worked at Carl Zeiss SMT GmbH where they held several positions starting from September 2012. Joachim served as a Lead System Engineer and was responsible for research and development from October 2017 to September 2019. Before that, they were a Senior System Engineer and a System Engineer, both engaged in research and development. Joachim also worked as a Research Associate in System Metrology Development from September 2012 to November 2013.
Earlier in their career, Joachim worked at Heidelberg University. Joachim was a Junior Research Group Leader from February 2008 to December 2011 and a Research Assistant from September 2007 to January 2008.
Joachim Welte completed their Abitur (A levels) in mathematics, physics, and general studies at AKG Bensheim. Joachim then pursued their higher education at Heidelberg University, where they earned a Diplom in Physics from 2002 to 2007. Later, they continued their studies at Heidelberg University and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from 2008 to 2011. Joachim also had a short-term study experience in Physics and Mechanical Engineering at the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest from 2004 to 2005. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have obtained various certifications, including Professional Scrum Product Owner I from Scrum.org in July 2018, and multiple Python data science-related certifications from DataCamp in May 2017.
