Valentina Volpin

Scientist - Group Leader at IOmx Therapeutics

Valentina Volpin has worked in the field of biotechnology since 2011. Valentina began their career with an internship in medical biotechnology at the University of Milan, where they evaluated the effect of glucolipotoxicity on the transport of ceramide. In 2012, they completed an internship in medical molecular and cellular biotechnology at San Raffaele Biomedical Science Park, where they worked on the development and validation of ex vivo strategies to overcome the poor in vivo persistence of T cells. In 2014, they started their PhD at the dkfz German Cancer Research Center, where they identified immune-checkpoint molecules on multiple myeloma cells in order to assess their use as potential targets for myeloma immunotherapy. In 2016, they worked as a scientist and research consultant for iOmx Therapeutics, where they advised the company on the ability of candidate immune-checkpoints as potential therapeutic targets. In 2018, they became a project leader at the RCI Regensburg Center for Interventional Immunology.

Valentina Volpin obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Medical Biotechnology from Università degli Studi di Milano in 2008-2011. Valentina then pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Medical Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology from Libera Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in 2011-2013. After that, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD from DKFZ German Cancer Research Center in 2014-2018. Additionally, they obtained a Project Management: Healthcare Projects certification from LinkedIn in February 2021 and a FELASA B certification from DKFZ German Cancer Research Center in November 2014.
