Serge Lachapelle has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries and roles. Serge began their career in 1980 as a Software Developer at Micom/Philips, where they worked on software and hardware solutions for the word processing market. Serge then joined Videotron in 1983 as a Developer for the Videoway product firmware.

In 1985, Lachapelle transitioned to Matrox, where they served as a Developer for graphics firmware and interfaces, utilizing assembler and C languages. Serge also developed device drivers to adapt software for graphics engines.

Lachapelle moved to Hydro Québec in 1988, working as a Consultant for the Outage Management System. Serge specialized in user interface design and graphics, focusing on continuous map display.
