Michael'sroles have included Deputy Program Manager, Senior Information Assurance Operations Analyst, Cyber Security Analyst, Information Security Engineer, Senior Principle, Division Chief, Information Assurance, Commander, Chief, Airborne Communications Integration, and Computer Network Defense Planner. Throughout their career, they have successfully led projects, managed budgets and personnel, created cybersecurity strategies and roadmaps, and developed risk management frameworks. Additionally, they have played an integral role in planning and executing exercises, supporting contingency operations and missions, and ensuring effective communication and computer support for US military forces.
Michael Bernert has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management of Information Systems, which they obtained from the University of Arizona between 1983 and 1987. Michael later earned a Master of Science degree in Administration/Software Engineering from Central Michigan University between 1994 and 1998. Michael also has a Master's degree in Military Operational Art & Science from the Air Command and Staff College between 2001 and 2002. In addition, they obtained two certifications; a Certified Information Systems Security Professional from (ISC)2 in March 2008 and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA in November 2016.
