John Dillon has over 14 years of work experience in the engineering industry. John began their career in 2005 as a Production Engineer at A.C. Manufacturing, where they were responsible for designing ventilation ductwork using CAD and CAM 3D engineering packages. In 2007, they moved to Delap & Waller as a Mechanical Design Engineer, where they were responsible for designing systems for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Water services, Soils & Waste services, gas services and fire protection. In 2010, they became a CAD Manager at Siemens. In 2012, they were a BIM Lead at Mercury Engineering, where they led a team of 5 co-ordinators providing scheduling, detailing, mentoring & support. In 2015, they were a BIM Coordinator at Skanska UK and a Senior BIM Coordinator at Dornan Engineering Ltd. In 2017, they became a BIM Manager at Mace. In 2018, they moved to Turner & Townsend as a Principal Consultant, BIM, where they created customised EIR and BIM execution plan documents, provided line management to colleagues, created detailed model review methods and procedures, and analysed and interpreted structured data against the project requirements. Currently, they are a Digital Twin Solutions Consultant / Information Manager at Invicara.
John Dillon attended Maynooth University from 1998 to 2004, where they obtained a B.Sc. Hons. in Experimental Physics & Applied Maths. John then attended Technological University Dublin from 2006 to 2010, where they obtained a B.Eng Tech (Building Services Engineering). In February 2021, John also obtained an Information Management Practitioner certification from Operam Academy.
