Nitin Sharma is a research consultant at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) since June 2023, focusing on mapping and assessing rice establishment practices using satellite data and automated flood mapping with open source data. Previous experience includes a research internship at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University, where Nitin digitized and mapped phosphorus pollutant sources. Nitin also served as a research trainee at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, studying glacier velocities in the Central Himalayas, and engaged in community mobilization at RTDC to raise awareness about climate change impacts on water security. Additionally, Nitin has research experience at the University of Delhi in groundwater characterization. Nitin holds a Master of Science in Geology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, a PG Diploma in Environmental Law and Policy from National Law University, Delhi, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Hansraj College.
