Aquiles Farias has a strong background in economics and finance. Aquiles began their career in 2001 at the Central Bank of Brazil, where they worked for nearly a decade in various roles, including Head of Division. In 2010, they joined Ibmec/DF as a Coordinator. Following this, they worked at Banco Central do Brasil from 2011 to 2016, initially as an Advisor to the Research Department and later as Deputy Head of the Research Department. During this time, they were involved in setting goals, approving research proposals, and providing advice on monetary policy issues. In 2016, they joined the International Monetary Fund as the Section Chief of Econometric and Modelling Support.
Aquiles Farias completed their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Economics from the Universidade Católica de BrasÃlia from 2000 to 2002. Following this, they pursued a PhD in Economics from the Universidade de BrasÃlia from 2003 to 2006.
