Cyril Emery has a diverse work experience in the field of law and international organizations. Cyril started their career as a Visiting Scholar at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law in 2004. Cyril then worked as a Research Librarian at Steptoe & Johnson LLP from 2004 to 2007. Following this, they served as a Fulbright Fellow (EU) at the U.S. Department of State from 2007 to 2008. Cyril then joined the United Nations as a Reference Librarian from 2008 to 2010. From 2010 to 2016, Cyril worked at the UNCITRAL: United Nations Commission on International Trade Law as a Librarian and Legal Officer. Cyril'snext role was as a Lecturer at the University of Vienna from 2012 to 2015. Currently, they are the Head of Documentation Division and Library of the Court at the International Court of Justice since 2016.

Cyril Emery's education history begins in 1996 when they enrolled at Columbia College, Columbia University. Cyril pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and successfully completed their studies in 2000. Subsequently, Emery attended the Indiana University Maurer School of Law from 2001 to 2004, where they earned a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, although their field of study during this period is not specified.
