JJ Reddington has a diverse work experience in the field of photography. They started their career as a freelance photographer in 2013, working for their own company, JJ Reddington Photography. In 2017, they joined the International Center of Photography as an instructor, teaching black and white silver gelatin analog darkroom processes as well as digital photography. They also helped students with writing about their work and public speaking about their photographic projects.
In 2018, JJ Reddington became an adjunct professor at Marymount Manhattan College, where they taught photography. At the same time, they worked as a freelance digital capture technician at Splashlight, providing technical support for photography shoots. They also worked as an instructor at BKC Brooklyn Central, teaching photography classes.
In 2019, JJ Reddington joined BuzzFeed as a photographer, working on a variety of branded assets for various brands and product campaigns. They specialized in stop motion ads and branded social campaigns. They stayed with BuzzFeed until July 2022.
From 2014 to 2017, JJ Reddington worked at Bonobos as a photographer, collaborating with different teams to shoot e-commerce product photography and images for marketing campaigns. They were also responsible for maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, and providing support for freelance photographers and crew. Additionally, they worked as a lead retoucher, providing retouching support for e-commerce and marketing projects, as well as building and maintaining the digital asset management system.
In 2013, JJ Reddington briefly worked as a freelance digital tech for Amazon. Prior to that, in 2012, they worked as a lab assistant at Josh Lehrer Photography, assisting with setup, lighting, shooting, and printing large-scale photographs for various portrait and commercial shoots. They also helped install fine art photographs at a major photography festival.
JJ Reddington's earliest work experience in the field of photography was as an equipment cage assistant at the School of Visual Arts in 2011. They were responsible for maintaining, inventorying, and organizing photography equipment and checking it out to students. They also arranged for the repair of broken equipment.
JJ Reddington obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Photography from California State University-Sacramento, where they studied from 2005 to 2010. JJ then pursued further education and earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, with studies spanning from 2011 to 2013.
