Samuel Hess has extensive experience in economic affairs, currently serving as the Head of Economic Affairs for Kanton Basel-Stadt since January 1998, where leadership involves guiding a specialized team in economic analysis and business development to support government policies and initiatives for regional economic growth. Additionally, Samuel Hess holds multiple prominent positions, including Head of Economic Services at Tech Park Basel and President of Basel Area Business & Innovation. Involvement in governance includes board memberships with Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area, interGGA AG, and a former role as Vorstandsmitglied for SRG Region Basel, among others. Academic qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Environmental and Resource Economics from UCL and an M.Sc. in International Relations from the University of St.Gallen.
