ZhenBang(Seven) Qi, Ph.D. P.Eng.

Team Lead, Technical Operations at Interface Fluidics

ZhenBang (Seven) Qi, Ph.D. P.Eng. has had a varied work experience over the years. In 2011, they were a Summer Student at Norampac. From 2012 to 2014, they were a Production Engineer Co-op at Husky Energy. During this time, they managed 70 oil wells and increased oil production to meet budget through maintaining production, minimizing operational cost, and discovering new potential oil zones. ZhenBang(Seven) also communicated with field operators and analyzed SCADA production plot to trouble shoot malfunctioned wells. In addition, they prepared Service Rig Reports that included down-hole equipment configuration, service plan, cost estimate, and economic simulation for pay out period.

From 2014 to 2017, they were a Graduate Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto. As a Graduate Research Assistant, they developed a glass-glass micromodel platform for evaluating light hydrocarbon solvents injection for bitumen recovery, and a microfluidic screening device for solvents in bitumen recovery based on asphaltene deposition and accumulation. As a Teaching Assistant, they were responsible for assignments preparation, tests preparation, office hour, invigilation, assignment marking, and test marking. ZhenBang(Seven) was the Best TA of the course with an average score of 7/7.

From 2017 to 2019, they were a Co-Founder at Iconthin Biotech Corp. During this time, they developed a business plan, business model canvas, executive summary, financial projection for the company. ZhenBang(Seven) also prepared applications and pitched at pitch competitions, and prepared applications and pitch/interviewed for incubation/acceleration programs.

Since 2019, they have been a Team Lead, Technical Operations and Senior Project Engineer at Interface Fluidics.

ZhenBang(Seven) Qi, Ph.D. P.Eng. obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2014. ZhenBang(Seven) then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering, Oil and Energy from the same institution, which they completed in 2019. Additionally, in March 2019 they obtained an Entrepreneurship Development Program certification from York University.
