James Bensley has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. James started their career in 2007 with Future Projects as an Expert Connectivity Layman, where they worked on enterprise networking and scripting. James then joined Future Radio as a Broadcast Engineer (volunteer), where they were responsible for the technical aspects of the community radio station.
In 2008, James worked as a Freelance Flash Fiddler for Bensley Media, specializing in Flash development.
James later joined Vostron as an Unknown Outage Artisan, managing a UK-wide multi-vendor MPLS-based service provider network. James developed internal OSS tooling and automated provisioning of network devices.
From 2014 to 2015, James worked at Updata Infrastructure as a Senior Own-Goal Scorer, building UK regional multi-vendor MPLS-based WANs for customers. James developed custom FreeRADIUS GUI pages, automated config changes, and introduced new access layer products.
In 2018, James joined Gigaclear plc as a Professional Shoulder Shrugger, where they designed and built an MPLS multi-vendor backbone to support the FTTH/P rollout across rural England. James also worked on deploying new subscriber management and wholesale platforms.
At Sky, James held two roles. James started as a Business Grade Soothsayer, focusing on technical strategy for Sky Business Communications Services. Later, they became a Sub-Optimal Situation Generator, redesigning and rebuilding the entire UK metro and backhaul networks for Sky UK.
Since 2019, James has been the NetLdn Organizer, responsible for organizing a monthly meet-up for network engineers and professionals.
In 2020, they became the Program Committee Chair for UKNOF, an open forum for operational and technical information exchange in the UK networking industry.
Currently, James is working as a Principal Coin Tosser at Inter.link GmbH.
James Bensley attended The Open University from 2010 to 2013, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Advanced Networking. During the same period, they also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Networking from The Open University.
