Helge Malmbekk currently serves as the Head of Section for the Soltek section at the Institutt for energiteknikk since May 2023. Prior to this role, Malmbekk worked as a Senior Engineer at Justervesenet from December 2012 to May 2023 and was a PhD student at the University of Oslo from August 2009 to February 2013. Malmbekk holds a Master's degree in Materials Science obtained from the University of Oslo between 2007 and 2009, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Materials and Energy from the same institution, completed from 2004 to 2007. Additionally, Malmbekk has undertaken a solar cell course to further expertise in the field.
