Rafael H. M. Pereira is the Head of Data Science at the Department of Regional, Urban and Environmental Studies and Policies at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea), a position held since 2009, alongside responsibilities as a researcher. Prior to this role, Rafael served as a Research Assistant at Nepo - Núcleo de Estudos de População from January 2006 to December 2008. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Transport Geography from the University of Oxford (2013-2018), a Master's degree in Demography and Population Studies from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2007-2008), and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Universidade de Brasília (2002-2006).
