Mariana G. Weber

Scientist, Attributes And Analytics at Instil Bio

Mariana G. Weber, Ph.D has extensive experience in scientific research and analysis. Mariana'smost recent position was as a Scientist at Instil Bio, where they focused on developing assays and technology platforms to support cellular analysis of T cell products in oncology. Mariana was responsible for investigating T cell functionality, potency, cytotoxicity, and polyfunctionality.

Prior to this, Dr. Weber worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Davis, where they studied the effects of novel therapies and mesenchymal stem cells on repairing the gut microenvironment and enhancing immunity during chronic SIV infection. Mariana utilized the rhesus macaque model of AIDS to investigate the effects of MSC treatment on virus suppression and gut immunity, quantified viral loads, and characterized immunological changes.

Before their postdoctoral role, Dr. Weber was a Ph.D. student in Microbiology at the University of California, Davis. Mariana'sresearch focused on investigating the effects of subclinical virus infection on vaccine response using the rhesus macaque model. Mariana evaluated vaccine immunogenicity using different vaccine platforms and investigated the correlates of vaccine immunity by analyzing immunological, virological, and metabolomic outcomes, as well as gut microbiota changes.

Dr. Weber also gained research experience through a research internship at UC Davis, where they worked on eradicating HIV latent reservoirs using latent reverse agents and investigating the mechanism of HIV reactivation.

Prior to their work in the United States, Dr. Weber completed a research internship at IFRJ - Instituto Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

Mariana G. Weber, Ph.D has a Bachelor's degree in Biological sciences with an emphasis in Biotechnology from Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia - IFRJ. Mariana obtained this degree between the years 2010 and 2014. Following that, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Microbiology, General from the University of California, Davis, completing their studies between the years 2014 and 2020.
