Jonathan Frey has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the fields of writing, web development, and content production.
Jonathan started their career in 2006 as a Story Editor and Producer's Assistant at Discovery Inc., where they supported the production of television series. Jonathan then moved on to work as an Entertainment News Editor and Columnist for JoBlo Media Inc., writing articles for a popular movie and pop culture website.
In 2007, Jonathan joined Rovi Corporation (now TiVo) as a Content Producer, where they wrote and edited articles and product copy about movies and television. Jonathan also worked with clients such as Rotten Tomatoes and eBay.
From 2010 to 2013, they worked as a Writer and Copy Editor at Tactic Company, creating in-depth profiles and biographies of notable figures in arts and entertainment.
Jonathan then joined Netflix in 2011 as a UX Writer, Enhanced Content, where they played a key role in developing and producing the streaming service's copy and editorial content. Jonathan also worked on special projects focused on creative 'Stories' content, defining the distinctive look and voice of Netflix.
Running their own sole proprietorship since 2005, Jonathan has worked as a Frontend Web Developer, specializing in UI/UX, accessibility, and performance. Jonathan has built customized websites for individuals and small businesses. Jonathan has also worked as a Freelance Writer, producing various types of content such as copy, digital marketing content, SEO, and UX writing. Their work has appeared on platforms like Netflix, IMDb, Comedy Central, and others.
Most recently, Jonathan worked as an Interactive Content and Marketing Writer at Insticator Inc., where they created engaging customized widget content, including ads, trivia quizzes, and poll questions on a wide range of topics. This content reached over 350 million monthly online readers through a network of clients such as ESPN, GQ, and WebMD.
Currently, Jonathan is working as an Executive Copywriter and Writing Coach at Jolly SEO.
Jonathan Frey attended Binghamton University from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Cinema and Linguistics. In 2012, they briefly attended New York University to pursue an Advanced Web Development degree in Information Technology. In terms of certifications, Jonathan obtained the Certified Digital Marketing Professional certification from the Digital Marketing Institute in August 2020, as well as the Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) certification from the American Marketing Association, also in August 2020. Jonathan also obtained an Advanced Web Development certification from New York University in July 2012.
