Thomas LECAT has a diverse range of work experience. Thomas started their career as a Research Engineer and Team Lead at InstaDeep Ltd in 2018. In this role, they worked on deep reinforcement learning for the industry, including automating the scheduling, routing, and dispatching of trains with large scale multi-agent RL for a major European railway company. Thomas also worked as a project manager on various ML projects, including sales forecasting and computer vision. At InstaDeep, they also conducted research in 3D object detection and segmentation and reinforcement learning for combinatorial optimization. Thomas was also involved in technical pre-sales and business development activities, representing InstaDeep at conferences and leading deals.
Before joining InstaDeep, Thomas served as a Data Scientist Intern, specializing in Natural Language Processing, at Zelros in 2018. At Zelros, they were involved in research and development, specifically generating SQL queries from natural language queries. Thomas worked with clients from the insurance, energy, and luxury industries.
In 2016, Thomas co-founded Biwi, a venture conducted in parallel with their studies. As a co-founder, product manager, and UI designer, they built a mobile app for carpooling on Android and iOS systems. The app aimed to enhance the carpooling experience by providing features such as automatic pairing of commuters, in-app cost sharing, and an in-app messenger for communication between driver and passenger without sharing personal details.
Thomas also held leadership positions at Forum Centrale-Supélec and Gala Supélec, where they served as the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Public Relations and Marketing Campaign, respectively. Thomas also gained experience in the quality control division of a factory as a blue-collar intern at Société Bouma.
Throughout their various roles, Thomas has demonstrated expertise in machine learning, AI technologies, project management, research, and development.
Thomas LECAT completed their education with a Master of Science (MSc) in Computing, specialism in Artificial Intelligence from Imperial College London in 2017. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Telecommunications from CentraleSupélec from 2014 to 2017. In 2011, they attended Lycée Louis Pasteur, where they completed French Classes Préparatoires in Advanced Mathematics & Physics.
