Jonathan Faustin

Senior Research Engineer at InstaDeep

Jonathan Faustin has a diverse work experience in the field of machine learning, scientific research, and engineering. Jonathan is currently working as a Machine Learning Engineer at InstaDeep Ltd since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at EDF from 2019 to 2022 as an Ingénieur chercheur, where they developed optimization tools based on deep reinforcement learning and delivered scientific software for nuclear engineers. Jonathan also rationalized and improved a software test suite during their time at EDF.

Before joining EDF, Jonathan worked at SOGETI High Tech as an Ingénieur Calcul Scientifique from 2018 to 2019. Jonathan also served as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics from 2017 to 2018, where they worked on the implementation of mathematical and computational interfaces for radio-frequency wave propagation simulation codes and developed physical models for the simulation of fast particles trajectories in fusion reactors.

Jonathan's career began as a PHD Student at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2012 to 2016. During this time, they updated and maintained simulation codes for plasma physics and conducted simulation data analysis for the prediction and interpretation of fusion reactors experimental data. Jonathan also published and presented their work in peer-reviewed scientific journals and international conferences.

Jonathan's early professional experience includes internships at ITER Organization in 2012, where they gained valuable insights into their field, and at EDF in 2011.

Jonathan Faustin received their education in a chronological order as follows:

From 2012 to 2016, they attended EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree in Physique.

Prior to that, between 2008 and 2011, they studied at IMT Atlantique and completed a degree in Ingénieur - Diplôme École des Mines de Nantes, specializing in Ingénierie nucléaire.

In 2011 to 2012, Jonathan attended Universite de Lorraine and pursued a Master 2 (M2) degree in Sciences de la fusion.

In addition to their formal education, Jonathan Faustin has acquired various certifications. In March 2022, they obtained the MLOps (Machine Learning Operations) Fundamentals certification from Google Cloud Skills Boost. In March 2018, they received a Certificate of Achievement in Introduction to Computational Thinking and Data Science from edX. Additionally, in February 2023, they achieved the Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer certification from Google Cloud.
