Irem Bastuzel has held a number of roles in the biosciences field. In 2022, they began working as an NGS Scientist II at Inso Biosciences. From 2017 to 2021, they worked as a Research Assistant at Clemson University. From 2013 to 2015, they held two roles at ODTÜ Yelken Kulübü, first as a Sailor and then as a Geneticist in the Plant Functional Genomics Laboratory. In 2015, they completed an Internship at the University at Albany, where they worked with Alpha and Gamma crystallins to reveal underlying causes of cataract disease. Irem also applied SDS-PAGE, Blue Native PAGE, IEF, and Western Blot protocols. Finally, from 2013 to 2014, they were a Geneticist at iGEM METU.
Irem Bastuzel's education history is as follows: From 2007 to 2011, they attended Burdur Anatolian Teachers Training High School and obtained a High School Diploma in Mathematics and Science. In 2012, they completed an Upper Intermediate Level in English at LAL Language Centers. From 2011 to 2016, they attended Orta DoÄŸu Teknik Ãœniversitesi / Middle East Technical University and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics. Currently, they are attending Clemson University and is working towards a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Genetics and Biochemistry.
