Ryan Palmer has a diverse work experience in various technology-related roles. Ryan currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Insig since July 2021. Prior to that, they worked as the Principal Developer from July 2020 to July 2021 at the same company.
Before joining Insig, Ryan worked at Scholastic as the Principal Software Developer from April 2017 to July 2020. In this role, they took the lead in transforming Ooka Island into an enterprise digital education product. Ryan managed a scrum team and established vendor relationships for development and quality assurance. Ryan developed various software components, including a product web dashboard, API services, and a real-time data analytics system. Ryan also oversaw QA teams, automated testing, and the delivery of native apps and web dashboards.
From 2014 to 2017, Ryan served as the Chief Technology Officer at Ooka Island Inc., where they focused on developing effective ways to teach foundational reading skills using technology. Ryan was responsible for product technology and business strategy, system architecture, software engineering, and mobile computing. Ryan also led a team, developed algorithms, and ensured data-driven decision-making.
Prior to that, Ryan worked as a Principal Developer/Analyst at Resonance Development Inc. from December 2008 to April 2017. Ryan also held the position of Lead Developer at Drupal Connect from March 2010 to November 2011. Additionally, Ryan served as a Technical Reviewer for Packt Publishing in February 2010, where they reviewed the Drupal 6 Panels Cookbook.
Ryan's earlier experiences include roles as a web developer at TP1 Internet 360 from August 2009 to March 2010, a Drupal lead at 5w Mignon-Media from March 2008 to January 2009, and a Drupal Consultant at the Parliamentary Monitoring Group from November 2007 to March 2008. Ryan also played a key role as a Drupal Consultant at the University of Prince Edward Island from February 2007 to November 2007, where they spearheaded the UPEI CMS Project and developed a multisite system using Drupal.
Ryan Palmer earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a major in Accounting from the University of Prince Edward Island, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, they obtained certification as an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in March 2022.
