Susan Greenberg is the Managing Editor at Inside Higher Ed since August 2021, having previously served as Senior Editor. Greenberg has extensive freelance writing and editing experience, contributing to prominent publications such as The New York Times and Scientific American, while currently working on a parenting memoir. Additional editorial expertise includes serving as executive editor for two foreign-affairs books published by Penguin India. Greenberg has also held academic roles, including Professor of the Practice and Visiting Professor at Middlebury College, where courses focused on journalism and opinion writing. Previous positions include instructing at Phillips Academy and teaching creative non-fiction at the New England Young Writers' Conference. Greenberg's career began at Newsweek, where a broad range of topics was covered as a Writer/Editor. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Brown University.
