Patrick Kerkstra is an accomplished journalist with extensive experience in various editorial roles, currently serving as Managing Editor and Managing Editor of Digital Content at the Philadelphia Inquirer since November 2016. Previously, Kerkstra held the positions of Editor in Chief and Writer at Large for Philadelphia magazine from May 2011 to September 2016, and served as a Special Projects Reporter for PlanPhilly from September 2010 to June 2014. Additional roles include freelance journalism and blogging under PatrickKerkstra.com and guest columnist contributions to the Philadelphia Inquirer. With earlier experience as a staff writer at the Philadelphia Inquirer from July 1999 to June 2010, Kerkstra covered a range of topics including City Hall, higher education, the Iraq War, and development. Kerkstra also worked as a Student Media Advisor at UCLA, guiding aspiring journalists, and began a career in journalism as a city desk stringer and intern at the Los Angeles Times. Kerkstra is a UCLA alumnus.
