Chad Amonn is the CEO and Co-Founder of INOVA DRONE, a San Diego based drone company. Chad is responsible for fundraising for the company and also leads the engineering design and product development activities including aero structures, custom payloads and ground stations, as well as the integration of the latest systems and technologies to the rapidly evolve INOVA’s product lines.
Chad has a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in Robotics and Aeronautical Engineering and Robotics from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly). Chad has spent the last 6 years designing and testing UAS systems. Prior to founding INOVA DRONE, they were one of the primary aircraft designers at 3D Robotics where they were responsible for designing many of the vehicles that are currently for sale on their website along with several other products including camera gimbal systems and a UAS ground station. At their time at 3D Robotics, they were also involved with a significant amount of R&D related to propulsion systems, cameras, sensors, vibration isolation, and battery technology. Chad is talented at designing and prototyping new concepts, especially those that are electromechanical in nature.
Chad was the leader of VADAR Drone - A small group of engineering students who designed a Vertical Take-off and Landing robotic surveillance aircraft for UAVFÂÜÀòÂÒÂ×E, a DARPA sponsored UAV design competition in 2012. In 2011 Chad designed and built a launch capable UAV Aircraft and a compact pneumatic UAV launching system for RAYTHEON.
Chad Amonn attended the Honolulu Waldorf School from 2001 to 2005 and then California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from 2005 to 2010, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Aerospace Engineering and Mechatronics. During their time at Cal Poly, Chad was the leader of VADAR Drone, a small group of engineering students who designed a Vertical Take-off and Landing robotic surveillance aircraft for UAVFÂÜÀòÂÒÂ×E, a DARPA sponsored UAV design competition in 2012.
