Michelle Kornberg

Ocean Engineering Associate at Innovasea

Michelle Kornberg has a diverse range of work experience in the field of engineering and marine science. Michelle currently works as an Ocean Engineering Associate at Innovasea since 2021. Prior to that, they worked at MIT Sea Grant as a Research Education Assistant from 2020 to 2021, where they were involved in prototyping and testing an ASV for oyster aquaculture and managing the Sea Grant Teaching Lab. In 2019, Michelle was an Undergraduate Researcher at the Australian Institute of Marine Science, where they designed and built a 3-axis CNC rig for a hyperspectral camera and assisted in other projects related to the Great Barrier Reef. At MIT Beaver Works from 2018 to 2019, they served as a Co-Team Lead and contributed to the design and construction of an autonomous surface vessel called Ionobot. Michelle also has experience as a Course Instructor at Fundación Gabriel & Mary Mustakis, where they developed curriculum and taught students about the engineering design process and fabrication techniques. Additionally, they worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at MIT Sea Grant in 2017, focusing on navigation capabilities for a model tugboat and research on acoustic Doppler current profilers. Michelle's earliest work experience was as an Engineer Intern at ADICEP TECHNOLOGIES INC from 2015 to 2016, where they developed algorithms and designed a prototype for a smart knee brace system.

Michelle Kornberg attended Belmont High School from 2012 to 2016. Michelle then pursued their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical and Ocean Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2016 to 2020.
