Devrim Pesen Okvur

Devrim Pesen Okvur has a diverse work experience in academia, research, and entrepreneurship. Devrim currently holds the position of Professor at İzmir Yüksek Teknoloji Enstitüsü, where they have been working since 2018. Prior to that, they served as an Associate Professor from 2013 to 2018 and as an Assistant Professor from 2010 to 2012 at the same institution.

In 2021, Devrim co-founded INITIO CELL and assumed the role of Co-Founder and CTO. Devrim also co-founded Initio Biomedical Engineering Consulting Trade and Industry Limited Company in 2016, where they served as the CSO until 2019.

Devrim has gained research experience through various postdoctoral fellowships. Devrim was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Yeshiva University from 2008 to 2010, at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) from 2006 to 2008, and at Karolinska Institutet from 2005 to 2006. Their research at Karolinska Institutet focused on the role of cyclic di-GMP in Salmonella Typhimurium biofilm formation.

Devrim also contributed as a Scientific Advisor at Desen Mikrotek R&D Medical Engineering Industry and Trade Ltd from 2014 to 2015.

Overall, Devrim possesses a strong background in academia, research, and entrepreneurship, with expertise in biofilm formation and biomedical engineering.

Devrim Pesen Okvur earned a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Physiology from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. This degree was obtained between 1999 and 2005.

Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Bilkent University from 1995 to 1999.

Before entering university, Devrim Pesen Okvur attended Icel Mersin Anadolu Lisesi, where they completed their high school education from 1988 to 1995.

Additionally, Devrim Pesen Okvur attended the European School on Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies for an unspecified period, though the degree obtained and field of study are unknown.
