Joe Flemish is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in engineering and materials science. Currently serving as Senior Director of Engineering at Infinera since January 2025, Joe previously held the position of Senior Director for Micro-LED Development at Lumileds from March 2021 to January 2025. Joe's career at Lumileds also included roles as Director of LED Die Design & Development and Director of Manufacturing Engineering from April 2011 to March 2020, focusing on process re-engineering to enhance product quality and cost efficiency. Earlier experiences include serving as Senior Scientist & Professor of Materials Science at Penn State, where Joe secured funding and led research teams in semiconductor technologies. As Chief Scientist at Anadigics, Joe developed processes for GaAs-based RF and microwave power amplifiers and conducted research on wide bandgap semiconductor materials as a Senior Engineer at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory. Education includes a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering and a BS in Chemical Engineering, both from Penn State University.
