Buck Stanford is a highly experienced pharmacist and healthcare professional with a diverse range of roles throughout their career. Buck began their career as a Pharmacy Manager at Osco Drug in 1997, where they managed multiple high-volume and complex business locations. Buck was promoted to Pharmacy Manager immediately upon licensure and served as a preceptor for Butler University and Purdue University.
In 2001, Buck joined Target as an Area Pharmacy Manager, overseeing teams in multiple states and consistently meeting sales targets. Buck later became a Group Pharmacy Leader and Senior Group Manager, responsible for developing and leading a dedicated healthcare talent strategy for the company, including recruitment and sourcing tactics and a multi-year internship program.
In 2013, Buck joined Intermountain Healthcare as a System Pharmacy Operations Director, where they managed various pharmacy operations, including specialty pharmacy, home delivery, and community pharmacies. Buck also served as the PGY1 Community Residency Program Director and implemented initiatives to reduce medication misuse and abuse.
In 2019, Buck joined Indiana University Health as Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer. In this role, they consolidated pharmacy operations across the system and created a system-level Population Health and Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Director role. Buck also developed a team development steering committee and implemented a talent day program to identify, coach, and retain top talent.
Buck's work experience also includes board memberships and delegate roles, such as Vice President for Hook's Drug Store Museum and Board Member for IUH Retention Group. Buck is highly respected in the industry and has made significant contributions to pharmacy practice and patient care throughout their career.
Buck Stanford holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from Shenandoah University, which they obtained from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, they pursued an MBA with a focus on Healthcare Management at the University of St. Thomas - Opus College of Business from 2011 to 2013. Buck earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Butler University, where they studied from 1994 to 1997. In preparation for their pharmacy education, Buck attended Eastern Illinois University from 1992 to 1994 to complete pre-pharmacy coursework. In addition, they completed the Advanced Training Program in Health Care Delivery Research with a Patient Safety Emphasis from Intermountain Healthcare, Institute for Health Care Delivery Research in 2015.
