Sarah Allen

Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Institutional Research at Indian Creek School

After teaching in the classroom for ten years, creating several blended learning classes, and presenting on innovation in teaching and learning at Education conferences nation-wide, Sarah's role of Director of Curriculum and Instruction is a natural fit.

An alumna of Indian Creek School from the Class of 2001, Sarah graduated from the University of Rochester in New York with a B.A. in Psychology with a focus on Child Developmental Psychology. She holds her M.Ed. in Learning and Technology. Her masters studies focused on instructional design and on research-based ways to effectively integrate technology in instruction.

Sarah has volunteered on the International Society for Technology in Education’s Early Learning Network Leadership Team, collaborating with teachers from around the world on how to best use technology with young children. Ms. Allen regularly presents at national education conferences on innovative teaching strategies, coding, robotics, and blended learning. In addition, she has presented webinars on blended learning, design thinking, project-based learning, coding, and robotics. She has authored an article on technology integration in the elementary classroom that was published by the International Society for Technology in Education.

Ms. Allen has won many prestigious education awards including a Baltimore City Outstanding Teacher award, the 2016 Pearson CITE Excellence in K-12 Online Teaching, the 2017 ISTE Kay L. Bitter Vision Award, and was a 2018 Fund For Teachers Fellow. Sarah looks forward to continuing the important work of building a collaborative learning community that facilitates the learning process by creating a nurturing, learner-centric environment with high academic standards.
