J. Ryan Jones has a diverse work experience in various software development roles. J. Ryan is currently working at Index Exchange as a Senior Software Engineer since March 2021. Before that, from 2016 to 2021, they worked at Quanser as a Full Stack Developer. Prior to that, from 2015 to 2016, they worked at Storage Appliance Corp. as a Senior Full Stack Developer. Additionally, from 2014 to 2015, they held the role of Lead Software Developer (Automation) at the same company. J. Ryan started their career at FUJIFILM CANADA INC. in 2008, where they worked as a Software Developer until 2014. Before that, from 2004 to 2008, they worked at Siberra Corp. (Best Buy Canada Ltd.) as a Software Developer. J. Ryan also gained experience as a C++ Developer at OpenGraphics Corp. for a brief period in 2003. In 2002, they worked at IBM Canada Ltd. as a Web Media Developer and in 2001, they worked at iSOLUTIONS (Government of Ontario) as an Internet / Intranet Assistant.

J. Ryan Jones completed their high school education at Port Hope High School from 1995 to 2010. Afterwards, they pursued a Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Honours Computer Science Co-op at the University of Waterloo from 2000 to 2005. Additionally, they obtained several certifications in the Japanese language proficiency tests, including JLPT Level 4 in 2007, JLPT Level 3 in 2008, and JLPT Level N3 in 2011, all from The Japan Foundation.
