Alton Chiu has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering and computer engineering. Alton started their career as a Summer Student at the Middleware Systems Research Group in 2009. From 2010 to 2011, they worked as a C++ Programmer at IBM Canada Ltd. Alton then pursued their education at the University of Toronto, where they completed their Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours in Computer Engineering. Alton consistently ranked in the top 5 of their class and received the ECE Outstanding Student Award each eligible year. Afterward, Alton joined Index Exchange in 2015, starting as a Software Engineer I and progressing to Software Engineer II and then III. Alton is currently working in the role of Software Engineer III at Index Exchange. Overall, Alton Chiu has demonstrated their expertise and growth in the software engineering field, backed by their educational qualifications and professional experience.

Alton Chiu completed their education with a Master of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they also earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Computer Engineering from the same university, starting in 2007 and finishing in 2012. Additionally, Alton obtained two additional certifications: "Software Design: Code and Design Smells" from LinkedIn in November 2022, and "Agile Software Development: Clean Coding Practices" also from LinkedIn in October 2022.
