Alex Ogbonna

Computational Breeding Scientist at Inari

Alex Ogbonna, PhD, is a Computational Breeding Scientist at Inari since August 2022, specializing in advanced genomic breeding methodologies. Previously, Alex served as a Research Scientist and Project Manager at Nature Source Improved Plants, LLC, where genetic and breeding services were provided using proprietary algorithms. Experience at Boyce Thompson Institute included a PhD candidacy focused on modern breeding impacts on cassava, as well as roles in research and data management within the Breedbase platform. Alex also contributed as a Teaching Assistant at Cornell University, covering the modern food system and its challenges. Earlier roles encompassed database curation and analysis in cassava breeding at the National Root Crops Research Institute in Nigeria, alongside laboratory work. Alex holds a PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics from Cornell University, a Master's in Analytical Chemistry from Michael Okpara University, and a Bachelor's in Chemistry from Imo State University.
