Christopher Hoover has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Christopher is currently working as a Principal Hardware Engineer at Impulse, where their responsibilities include systems/EE design, architecture work, board development, firmware development, and other tasks related to hardware engineering. Prior to this, they held the position of Principal at Murgatroid Heavy Industries. Christopher has also served as the VP/Head of Hardware and Firmware Engineering at Cavnue.
Christopher has a significant work history with Google, starting in 2011 as a Senior Staff Engineer & Geo Camera Systems Manager. Christopher led and managed a team responsible for various camera systems for Google Geo, including Street View and aerial photography. Christopher then transitioned to roles such as Systems Engineering Lead/Manager, AR/VR, where they worked on advanced R&D for virtual reality, and Hardware/Software Engineering Lead on Glass, where they led the development of Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2.
Before their time at Google, Christopher worked at X, the moonshot factory, where they served as a Senior Staff Engineer and played a key role in the hardware/software development of Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2. Christopher also worked with Hewlett-Packard Laboratories as a Senior Researcher, focusing on sustainability and the improvement of information technology. Additionally, they held the role of Chief Technology Officer at OneSpot, Inc. and worked as an Architect at Cadence Design Systems, where they were involved in the design and development of various software programs. Christopher began their career as an Engineer at Comdisco Systems.
Christopher Hoover attended Carnegie Mellon University from 1986 to 1990, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained various certifications, including Wilderness/Remote Location First Aid and the Epinephrine Auto-injector certification from NOLS, as well as several certifications from FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission.
