Karissa Muñoz, PhD, is a Senior Scientific Communications Manager at Immunis, Inc. since July 2022, and previously served as the Communications Coordinator. In addition, Karissa has been a Volunteer Staff member at OC Animal Care since January 2024, focusing on dog socialization and support services after completing the Fear Free Shelter Animal Care Program. Karissa earned a PhD in Biological Sciences from UC Irvine, where studies were conducted from September 2016 to June 2022. Previously, Karissa contributed as a Science Writer for The Loh Down on Science podcast and worked as a Medical Writer at AIVITA Biomedical, Inc. Notable early research experience includes a position as a Student Summer Researcher at Rose Hills Science and Engineering, studying gene regulation. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in Biology from UC Irvine and a dual degree in Biology and Spanish from Claremont McKenna College, complemented by studies in Spanish at Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca.
