Willy Bascuñan Silva has a diverse range of work experience in the field of cybersecurity and information technology. Willy is currently serving as the CISO and Head of Cybersecurity and Information Security at imed. Previously, they worked as a Lecturer and Coordinator at Duoc UC where they taught various subjects related to computer science and telecommunications. Willy also served as the Chief of Cybersecurity at Itaú Chile, where they led and provided risk-based cybersecurity consulting to different areas of the bank. Additionally, they held the position of Information Security Officer and Chief of Information Security at CorreosChile, where they developed and implemented security plans and policies based on ISO27001/27002, NIST CSF, and CIS20 frameworks. Prior to that, they were the Head of IT Projects at the Chilean Investigations Police, overseeing the evaluation and management of technology projects. Willy also has experience as an IT Projects Engineer at the Chilean Air Force, where they led projects in software development and implementation, as well as hardware and network support.

Willy Bascuñan Silva has a diverse education history. Willy obtained a Magister en Ciberseguridad degree in Tecnología de la información from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in 2020. In 2014, they completed a Diplomado en Administración de Proyectos in Gestión industrial/de ingeniería from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Willy also completed a Curso de Certificación Ethical Hacking V9 (CEH9) in Ciberseguridad from Infocorp Chile in 2017. In the same year, they obtained a diploma in Big Data, specializing in Inteligencia y Correlación de Datos from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Willy holds a degree in Ingeniero Civil from Universidad Central obtained in 2010, and a Licenciado en Ciencias de la Ingeniería degree in Ingeniería Civil Industrial from the same institution in 2009. Additionally, they earned an Ingeniero en Computación e Informática degree in Computación e Informática from Universidad Mayor in 2003. Willy also completed a Diplomado en TIC from Duoc UC in 2017 and a Diplomado in Diseño Instruccional from the same institution in 2018. Willy has a military certification as a Controlador de Tráfico Aéreo Militar with a specialization in Mención Torre de Control from Fuerza Aérea de Chile in 1992. Furthermore, they have obtained several certifications, including CyberOps Associate (from Cisco in 2022), Certificado Verificado de edX para el curso Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Power BI (from edX in 2021), Cybersecurity Compliance Framework & System Administration (from Coursera in 2020), Introduction to Cybersecurity (from Cisco in 2020), Certified Ethical Hacker (from EC-Council in 2018), Spark - Level 1, Big Data Foundations, and Hadoop Foundations - Level 1 (from IBM Cognitive Class in 2017).
