Paul Ward-Dolkas

Sr Mechanical Engineer at Imatrex

Paul Ward-Dolkas has extensive experience working as a senior mechanical engineer in various companies and industries. Paul has a strong background in detailed design and engineering, as well as project management.

Paul's most recent position was at Astranis, where they held the role of Sr Mechanical Engineer starting in February 2019. Prior to this, they worked at Imatrex Inc. as a Sr Mechanical Engineer, focusing on the design and engineering of real-time imaging X-ray sources for cancer diagnosis and treatment. Paul collaborated with staff physicists to create CAD designs and worked with vendors for manufacturing.

Paul also worked at Varian Medical Systems as a Sr Mechanical Engineer for a brief period in 2016, and at Abbott Hematology as an Engineer IV (contract) from September 2015 to February 2016. In their role at Abbott, they managed and designed critical parts of a robotic blood diagnostic system, ensuring compliance with FDA regulations and improving manufacturability and cost.

Earlier in their career, Paul worked at NASA Ames Research Center as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, leading the mechanical design of a Space Station flight experiment. Paul received recognition for their work with the NASA Space Flight Awareness Award for innovation. Paul also worked at Lockheed Research Laboratory, where they handled mechanical design for various projects, including instruments for space telescopes and weather satellites, as well as high-vacuum particle physics experiments.

Before that, Paul worked as a consultant at Q Systems, where they contributed to leading-edge designs for products such as medical devices, robotic vehicles, and digital televisions. Some of their notable clients during this time were Stanford University, Intel, KLA-Tencor, and Inamed.

Paul's earlier roles include working as a Sr Mechanical Engineer at D2M, leading project teams from conceptualization to product delivery, and as a consulting engineer at Speck Design & Replay TV. Paul also managed the mechanical engineering group at Innovative Product Technologies (IPT), where they oversaw all aspects of mechanical engineering for new product development and managed client projects from conception to completion.

Paul Ward-Dolkas began their education at the University of California, Berkeley, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. The timeline for this degree is not specified. Subsequently, they attended the University of Arizona to take Master's degree classes in Optical Sciences. However, it is mentioned that they did not complete this program.
