Yajie Lee has over 25 years of professional experience in stochastic earthquake catastrophe model development. They have expertise in hazard and risk assessment theory, statistical sampling and simulation methods, empirical ground motion models, ground motion spatial correlation models, building vulnerability models, and cloud computing technology. Yajie has managed the development of analytic frameworks to support the integration of seismic hazard models, empirical and engineering vulnerability models, and financial models for probabilistic seismic risk assessment.
Yajie worked as a Director at ImageCat since April 2011, where their role focused on seismic hazard and risk assessment. Before that, they were a Project Manager and Lead Earthquake Loss Model Developer at URS Corporation from February 2000 to April 2011. Prior to this, Yajie worked as a Senior Engineer and Earthquake Risk Specialist at Dames & Moore from September 1998 to February 2000. Their earliest work experience was as an Engineering Seismologist at the Seismological Bureau from September 1991 to August 1994.
Yajie Lee completed a Master's Degree in Geophysics and Seismology at the University of Nevada, Reno from 1994 to 1999. During the same period, Yajie also obtained a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the same university. Prior to that, Yajie earned a Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics from the University of Science and Technology of China, from 1986 to 1991.
