Shyamal Mehtalia is a Principal Engineer at Illumina since June 2018, focusing on Data Analysis software solutions for next-generation sequencing genomic data and developing the DRAGEN Bio-IT Platform for secondary analysis of large-scale genomic data. Prior to Illumina, Shyamal served as Director of Operations at Edico Genome from February 2015 until its acquisition by Illumina in May 2018. Additional experience includes roles as Principal Engineer at AirHop Communications, Manager of Phy L1/Firmware Engineering, and Senior Staff Engineer at Broadcom, where responsibilities encompassed L1/Phy layer development for UMTS chipsets and software design. Shyamal's career began at Texas Instruments as a Systems Engineer specializing in UMTS modem development. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from VESIT.
