Shalaka Wahane is a Lead Scientist at Illumina Ventures Labs, a position held since July 2023, following a tenure as Staff Scientist at Illumina from January 2022 to August 2023, where responsibilities included managing genomic startup projects and experiment design. Prior experience includes roles as Assistant Project Scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles, focusing on transcutaneous magnetic stimulation in ALS research, and as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, identifying mechanisms in CNS injury repair. Shalaka Wahane began a doctoral journey at Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg, Germany, completing a Ph.D. in Developmental Neurobiology, with research on the TGFß-IGF1 signaling pathway in murine forebrain development.
