Marshan Allen currently serves as the Director of Policy & Communications at the Illinois Prison Project and co-chairs the Conviction Integrity Subcommittee for the Cook County State’s Attorney Transition Team, focusing on fair outcomes in the criminal legal system. Allen is also involved with several organizations, including Human Rights Watch as a member of the National LWOP Leadership Council, and as founder/owner of Rising Phoenix Consultants and Assurus Solutions. As a board member of the Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth and Restore Justice, Allen advocates for children's rights and rehabilitation. Allen's educational background includes pursuing a JD at Chicago-Kent College of Law and holding a BA in Justice Policy & Advocacy from Northeastern Illinois University, alongside various certificates and degrees in related fields.
