Mailee Smith is a seasoned legal professional and policy expert currently serving as a Fellow at the Institute for the American Worker since 2023. As the Senior Director of Labor Policy and Staff Attorney at Illinois Policy since 2016, Mailee focuses on government union labor relations and their impact on Illinois taxpayers. Additionally, Mailee has been an Adjunct Professor at Trinity International University, teaching a course on public policy. Prior experience includes serving as Staff Attorney at Americans United for Life, where Mailee filed over 90 amicus briefs in significant legal cases, and working as an Associate Attorney in the areas of insurance defense and workers' compensation. Earlier in the career, Mailee worked as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Kenneth L. Ryskamp in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Mailee holds a Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law and a Bachelor's Degree in History/Political Science from Greenville University.
