Patrick Higgs has worked in the field of chemistry since 2014. Patrick began their career at the Chemical Nanoscience Lab at Newcastle University, where they were awarded an RSC Funded Summer Studentship. During this time, they researched the light-activated electron transfer reactions of ruthenium complexes. In 2015, they joined Newcastle University as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) student, where their thesis focused on the 'structural metamorphosis' of discrete single-chain polymer nanoparticles. Patrick also worked as a Lab Demonstrator, responsible for supervising undergraduate students during their practical work. In 2019, Patrick joined Iksuda Therapeutics as a Principal Scientist and Development Chemist. In this role, they were responsible for technical development of PermaLink and new ADC technologies, including synthetic design, reaction optimisation, scale up/down chemistry of linkers and toxins, compound isolation, purification and analysis.
Patrick Higgs achieved a First Class Master of Chemistry (MChem) Degree from Newcastle University in 2015, after studying Chemistry from 2011 to 2015. Patrick then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Dynamic Covalent Polymer Chemistry at the same university, which they completed in 2019.
