Michael Barnes is a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in the aerospace and defense sector. Currently serving as a Senior Project Engineer and Integrated Product Team Lead at II-VI Aerospace & Defense since May 2020, Barnes focuses on major assemblies for directed energy systems. Prior to this role, Barnes spent nearly 18 years at L3Harris - Brashear, holding various positions including Senior System Engineer, where leadership was demonstrated in the Space Surveillance Telescope Relocation program, and as a System Engineer for the Sandia National Laboratories LAZAP 0.5M Telescope System. Barnes began career work as an Electrical Engineer, specializing in electro-optic fire control systems. Educationally, Barnes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, obtained between 1998 and 2001.
