Daan Wensing has extensive experience in the field of sustainable trade and natural resource management. Daan is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at IDH, The Sustainable Trade Initiative since October 2020. Prior to this role, they held various positions at IDH, including Global Director Sustainable Landscapes, Program Director Global Landscapes & Deforestation Commodities, Program Director Initiative for Sustainable Landscapes, and Senior Manager Landscape Interventions. In these roles, they were involved in directing and managing initiatives focused on sustainable landscapes, deforestation prevention, and the implementation of commodity programs. Before joining IDH, Daan worked at IUCN NL as the Head of Unit Natural Capital and Value Chains and the Manager of Leaders for Nature. Daan also co-founded Triple E and served as the Director of its International Department. Their previous experience includes roles at Nieuwe Wildernis, IUCN NL, and the Dutch Working Group on Ecology and Development. Daan's work has spanned various regions, including Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, India, and China.
Daan Wensing obtained their Bachelor's degree in General Biology from Utrecht University in 2002. Daan then pursued their Master's degree in Business from Utrecht University in 2004, followed by another Master's degree in International Nature Conservation from the same university in 2005. In 2002, they also briefly attended the University of Florida, but no degree or field of study information is provided for this period.
