Ty Mekonnen has a diverse work experience in the field of information technology. Ty started their career in 2000 as an Information Systems Specialist at the City of Cambridge MIS. After six years, they moved on to work as an Information Systems Specialist at the Cambridge Police department, where they stayed until 2012. In 2012, Ty joined IDERA Software as a Support Engineer, and then they joined Metropolitan Area Planning Council in 2014 as a System Administrator II.

Ty Mekonnen attended UMass Boston from 2003 to 2006, where they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems.
