Ka'o Carlos has an extensive work experience in the design industry. Ka'o is currently working as the VP of Design and Research at ID.me since August 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Sr. Design Leader for Prime Video at Amazon from 2019 to August 2022. Ka'o led teams in designing Amazon's Prime Video streaming service and ensuring a wide selection of digital video content across various devices.
From 2011 to 2019, Ka'o worked at CBS Interactive as the Sr. Director of Design. Ka'o managed UX, UI, and Show Art Production Teams for the CBS All Access video streaming subscription service. Ka'o was responsible for analyzing the competitive landscape, defining requirements, and ensuring milestones were met. Under their leadership, the success of CBS All Access resulted in significant yearly revenue growth and the launch of the premium entertainment service within a short timeframe.
Prior to CBS Interactive, Ka'o worked at Fandango from 2006 to 2011, where they served as a Senior User Experience Designer. Ka'o played a crucial role in creating the Fandango web, mobile web, and mobile app designs, catering to millions of monthly moviegoers. Their designs for Fandango on iOS and Android were featured in national commercials by Apple and Google. Ka'o also conducted user tests and multivariate testing to ensure the success of the user experience.
Ka'o Carlos began their education in 1995, attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa. They pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and Web Design from 1995 to 1999. In 1997, while still studying at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Ka'o Carlos also attended Virginia Commonwealth University for a year, where they also worked towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and Web Design.
